Ingredients

Main
  • 1 lb Spicy or mild Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 package (16oz) Shelf-stable potato gnocchi
  • 3 cups Fresh kale, chopped with tough stems removed
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Method

Main
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, and cook until browned (about 5-6 minutes). Drain excess grease if necessary.
  2. Add the minced garlic to the sausage and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Bring the liquid to a gentle simmer.
  4. Add the uncooked gnocchi directly into the skillet. Cover with a lid and let simmer for 5 minutes, until the gnocchi is tender.
  5. Remove the lid and stir in the chopped kale. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes until the kale is wilted and the sauce has thickened.
  6. Stir in the parmesan cheese. Serve immediately, garnished with red pepper flakes if desired.
